Jane Austen’s last book, Persuasion was published after her death. Its themes more thoughtful, its message less playful than previous works, here we have a book more concerned with the consequences of giving in to societal pressures and the fruits of revisiting doors thought closed for good. Austen passed away at the age of 41. This is her farewell note, perhaps a parting word of advice from a talent this world could not keep for long.
